What are the four Subjects in JAMB?

In the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), candidates are required to register for four subjects.

These four subjects include English Language which is mandatory for all candidates, regardless of their chosen course of study. It assesses candidates’ proficiency in grammar, comprehension, and communication skills.

O’Level Requirements

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Animal Production;You require;

Five SSCE credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics and English Language

Special Requirements

(i) ADSU and ATBU accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics with ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics or vice-versa

(ii) MOUAU accepts Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and any other science subjects; requires at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics. ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least ‘O’ level pass in Biology

(x) FUTMINNA accepts any one of Physics, geography, Economics, Home Economics, Food and nutrition as the fifth subject. At least a pass in Physics is required.

You require;

Two ‘A’ Level passes or equivalent in Chemistry and one of Biology/Botany /Zoology/Agricultural Science/ Geography/Geology/ Mathematics/Economics.

Alternative Qualifications Accepted (varies by university)

ND/NCE/HND in relevant agricultural fields, often with a minimum of Lower Credit, plus four O’Level credits:

  • ATBU & FUTMINNA accept NCE, ND, and HND in Agricultural programs.
  • ADSU accepts ND Distinction HND Credit, or NCE Credit (double major).
  • FUNAAB accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in Agriculture or related, or NCE Credit + UTME subjects.
  • FUTA accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Agricultural Sciences and GCE A‑Level subject combinations.
  • UMUDIKE, EKSU, and MAKURDI follow similar standards
