Candidates must have passed the National Examination Council (Nigeria) Senior School Certificate Examination (NECO SSCE) or the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) to be eligible to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is administered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), a Nigerian entrance examination board.

JAMB 2026 Registration Requirements & Guidelines

Remember to register as early as you can so you are posted to a JAMB center nearby.

To register for the 2025/2026 JAMB UTME, ensure you have the following:

1. National Identification Number (NIN):
Obtain your NIN at any NIMC enrollment center, as it’s mandatory for registration.

2. Valid Email Address and Phone Number:
Use an active email address and phone number to create your JAMB profile and receive important updates.

3. JAMB Profile:
Create a profile on the official JAMB portal to facilitate registration.

4. O’Level/A’Level Results:
Provide your O’Level (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE) or A’Level results during registration. If awaiting results, register nonetheless, but upload your results later.

5. JAMB ePIN:
Purchase the ePIN from banks, online platforms, or mobile money agents to complete your registration.

6. Recent Passport Photograph:
A clear, recent passport photograph will be taken at the CBT center during registration.

7. Biometric Verification:
Undergo biometric verification (fingerprint scanning) at the CBT center.

How to Register JAMB 2026/2027

• -Text your NIN number as in (NIN(one spacing)xxxxxxxxx) to 55019. A charge of #50 will be deducted.
• Shortly, you will receive your profile code and UTME pin.
• Go to the JAMB Portal, pay the fee, register, and thumbprint.

Create Profile Code

The JAMB profile code is a ten (10) distinct number digit that you require to have after which you can then register and take the JAMB examination. It is a number that you will present at the CBT centre to be registered.

Registration of a JAMB profile is mandatory for all applicants. The profile login details would also be used to access your JAMB CAPS to accept the admissions.

You also have to acquire a National Identification Number (NIN) with which you are to register JAMB.

You can make your JAMB profile by yourself with the help of your phone quite easily. To do it, you do not have to visit an Internet cafe.

To Create Profile Code

1. Visit the JAMB facility website
   Click on Sign up for UTME/DE
2. Click on Create an account
   Select the blue button to create a JAMB profile account
3. Enter your email address and details below
   Fill out the form with your correct email address, phone number and security answers.
4. Click on the Ok button
   Select the Ok button on the email verification page
5. Click on the JAMB message sent to your mailbox
   Open your Gmail app to see your JAMB profile code
6. Click on the JAMB link inside the message from JAMB
   Select “Click here to continue your Profile Creation”
7. Enter your personal details
   Type your first, second and middle name. Select your gender.
8. Select Date of Birth
   Enter your correct date of birth
9. Enter your phone number and place of origin
   Type your phone number, nationality and state of origin
10. Enter your Password
    Type a password that you can never forget. Then click on Sign Up
11. Proceed to Login
    Your account creation is successful
12. Login to your account
    Enter your email address and password

    You will be able to access your JAMB profile

You Must Have Google Email account

Launch the Google chrome app in your phone.

An iPhone user can be able to use a Safari browser, through which Google Mail may be entered by typing in the URL Gmail.

Enter Your Bio data

Enter your biodata and post the necessary documents as well as your O level result and commence filling them. There should not be any nick names on filling the registration form.

When you have registered you can print out the Registration Slip. Your examination schedule and centre is in the slip. A free CD will be issued with the syllabus JAMB and brochure.

JAMB cutoff point

For universities, the JAMB minimum cut-off score is normally 140/400, and for polytechnics, it is 100/400. For some competitive courses, however, some universities might have higher cut-off scores. It is not permitted for this cut-off point to surpass 220.

How to check your JAMB results

Using Mobile:

• Text “UTME result” to 55019, using the same number you used to obtain the profile code. A charge of 50 naira will be deducted.
• You will receive a message in the format:

Via JAMB Portal:

You can access your Original Jamb Result through the JAMB portal by paying a charge of ₦1,000

How to check JAMB admission status

• – Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with your registered email and password.
• – In your Candidate’s Dashboard, locate and click on the Check Admission Status tab
• – Select your Exam year and enter your registration number in the required columns.
• Finally, click “Check Admission Status” to proceed.
• Your status may read “not admitted”, “admission in progress”, or “Congratulations, you have been offered provisional admission. You may now proceed to Accept or Reject the admission offer”
• – Proceed to Accept or Reject admission.
